kjq45's post below, "Spin It Again To The Limits", gave me an idea.
Twenty something years ago I did a lot of recording on a then brand new Fostex 250 4 track cassette recorder - which recorded at 3 3/4 ips, twice the speed of a regular cassette deck. I sold the Fostex a long time ago and recently came across some tapes I'd recorded on it and never mixed down on a regular deck, but they were useless without a 250. Like listening to mud on a standard cassette deck.
But, voila, thanks to kjq45's post I realized I can record with SAI from a regular deck, and then increase the speed 200%, and I've got it. Now, if only I could balance left and right channels, which I always left for the mix down. And, while I almost always played Telecasters (starting in 1966), on one of these tapes is an old Strat I had. Listening to it, I kind of wish I hadn't sold it.
Anyhow, thanks for that idea kjq45!
