Latency responsible for cutting off part of first note? Hardware?

Post by ldearing »

I'm having a problem with my "First" note being partially cut off (posted elsewhere) and starting to think its latency; I'm running MC 7 pro on Win10. I do not believe had this problem on MC 6 on Win 8.1. I believe I'm using newest drives / best configs.

I have a 4 year old cheap-ass DELL lap top 15 series. Will I get better recording performance - less latency by going to a newer USB external card?

To answer your question, in a word, yes. You will get better performance with an audio interface or I/O. This is also dependent on your pc and it's stats, processor and ram are the big ones. If you have an i3 with 4gb ram, it's going to be pushing the limits pretty quick.

I'm not going to guess what's causing the intro note issue but if it's latency you could see if tweaking your settings could help.

Hi,

We actually fixed a bug like this, so that's why I asked if this was version 7.7 build 316. If it's an older build, it could be a bug.

i verified Im on newest MC build and drivers, as well as optimized configs however I've determined this is probably me jumping the beat a bit. I've come up with a work-around for it, and since i am getting otherwise good all-round performance I'm not going to complicate things with any external hardware unless i come up with other reasons to upgrade my sound card.

As for computer specs questioned above I've got a decent quad core with 8 gig of RAM. It was only the poor low end sound card on board i was questioning.

Thx
