Could any one with far greater knowledge than mine possibly give me explanation as to the following showing in the Log file. (Mixcraft 8 Pro Studio (390)
"VST: B:\vstx64\iZNectar2.dll"
"This is not a VST (Code 1)"
"This is not a valid VST"
In the above example it applies to Nectar but there are many other entries in the log under different effects however all the vst mentioned load and seem to work okay so it's not a real issue.
Obvious I need to do some cleaning on VST folders.
Thanks in advance
Not a Valid VST

Re: Not a Valid VST
I believe there's a number of possible reasons.
Any .dll or other file that is not a vst plug in that is located in a plug in folder that Mixcraft is set to scan might get that response.
Another possibility is perhaps a 64 bit vst in the folder being searched by a 32 bit host?

Re: Not a Valid VST
Thanks Mark but they are valid VSTs. I tried removing iZnectar2.dll from the folder but when reopening Mixcraft it gave an error the plugin could not load due to missing part, or words to that effect.
As I said there are a lot in the log with that error (code1) and they are all legit VST dll which are loading fine.
A need understand & curiosity.

Hi,
Complex plugins have both VST and non-VST DLL files. By default, they would normally install into separate folders. Only the VST DLL would go into the VST folder. If you override that, and make everything install into the VST folder, you'll get that error.
This can also happen if you have Mixcraft search non-VST folders for VST DLL files, but in your case, it looks like it's the former case.

Re: Not a Valid VST
Yes, and using Izotopes as an example, besides the files in the VST folder, there's folders of files installed in my programs folders, and there's folders of files installed in my documents folder.
And if you move or change them, it can often cause all kinds of faults and malfunctions. Don't ask how I know......
You might want to try a reinstall of the plug-in and let it install the files to the default locations. And let it be......
(Those various plug in related folders in documents really bugged me for a long time. I have eight or ten of them.
I see them and want to clean up. Lesson learned. Leave 'em alone. They go there. )

Re: Not a Valid VST
Looking through the list most do seem to be related to Ozone, Neutron and various other Izotope plugins. I guess along the line I've cocked up some folders.
Thank you gentlemen.

Of course, the real lesson here is that you shouldn't read your log file if everything is working correctly.
