Organ VSts
I use the VB3 plugin fairly often. I see that GSi has a paid version that I assume is somewhat better - not sure the price (an old reference had it at 50 Euros).
I also see NI has one that emulates 3 Hammonds and Vox and Farfisa. $100
Any experience with these? Significantly better than what comes standard with Mixcraft?
I don't have a lot of knowledge about the drawbars etc (for B3 or for Vox.) So when I try to match a sound I like from a recording it's hit and miss (mostly miss - sometimes by a lot). I try presets that sound close and then play around to see if I can get closer. Almost always not - and I end up settling for a sound that to my ears is less than ideal.
Thoughts on standard vs upgraded organ plugins?

Mixcraft 8 Pro (32bit) runs fine on a Toshiba Satellite C55-B laptop with a wimpy Celeron N2830 (dual core). Now using 64bit on a "less wimpy" Dell 660S/Dual Core Pentium/8GB RAM.

Re: Organ VSts
Try this FREE one it sounds pretty good, and there is a speed (rotary) switch which is mapped to a sustain pedal.

Re: Organ VSts
I've listened to the NI vintage organ collection and its come in @ half price in the black friday sales for the past 2 years and it sounds pretty good, but for free I think this one is good too. The drawbars map perfectly to a Nektar LX61 keyboard sliders but I used the gearwheel on the gui and had to choose reverse for the slider/drawbar action be correct. Always set the keyboard sliders to zero when mapping.

Re: Organ VSts
The Waves Electric 88 got some decent reviews. FWIW, I'm not a keyboard guy.

The Vox and Farfisa's on VST4free -
are they better versions than those that come with Mixcraft, or exactly the same?

I have that one and I love it, but it's an e-piano and not an organ. Kind of a different beast.Rolling Estonian wrote:The Waves Electric 88 got some decent reviews. FWIW, I'm not a keyboard guy.

Re: Organ VSts
They are later revisions; for one thing they include 64-bit builds for those who care about such things. I run them for the up-to-dateness factor and the 64-bit-hood.BillW wrote:The Vox and Farfisa's on VST4free -

VB3 (full version) smokes that poor old thing in MxCraft.
