Disabling input monitoring and enabling direct monitoring
My question is how do I properly configure Mixcraft to allow for direct hardware monitoring through my Tascam US-122 recording interface hardware? I want to disable input monitoring because I am having severe latency issues when I go through my computers soundcard. I want to record directly through the US-122 with headphones using the "Direct Monitor" control, thus bypassing the computer sound card.
Do I just have to change my "output" soundcard in Mixcraft to the US-122 soundcard instead of my computer soundcard, or is it more complicated than that? What controls do I change? I want to do tracking/overdubbing through my hardware, not software.
Thanks for the help,
E

I am not familiar with your US-122, but yes, you would need to make it your output source.
I have a Delta 10/10 card which has 10 inputs and 10 outputs.
I run the outputs separately to a 24 channel mixer and then out to power amp and speakers.
The only thing I use the on board sound AC97 for is playback on small computer speakers.

Hi,
Wow, that was 17 years ago. Next year, that post will be old enough to vote!
Yes, make sure you've downloaded and installed the latest driver from Tascam, then go into Mixcraft's Sound Device preferences and select ASIO mode. Choose the Tascam as your playback device, and don't choose the monitor audio option on the track.

[Edit] didn't realize i answered at the same time
I'm assuming you mean setting up you audio interface as your input and output device:
from the Menu - File > Preferences > Sound Device - ASIO (preferred) > Default Recording Device (input) ---- Playback Device (output)

Re: Disabling input monitoring and enabling direct monitoring
Can you post a screenshot of what you are looking at?
Likely for the Tascam us-122 (if that's what you are using) the first input is for the XLR mic or 1/4 jack left input. The second is for the right XLR mic or 1/4 jack right input. The fsusb should be the ouput (full speed usb).
For example, in MC 8 on mine I have a different audio device so I setup my input and output accordingly.

Re: Disabling input monitoring and enabling direct monitoring
I have a Tascam US144, and can tell you the unit was discontinued almost ten years ago and the driver hasn't been updated in a long time- I think W7 (or so) may have been the last supported Windows OS.
Mine still works on W10 with the old ASIO driver and has options that appear similar to what cactus-head is showing, though it is admittedly outdated and probably marginal, it is basic and functional for my mobile option.
EDIT: I didn't catch that the Tascam specific question was from the ancient thread. (One reason not to revive old dead threads)
