String Instruments Hi Freq Artifact
I notice a hi frequency artifact coming from the Hall Strings & Cavernous Strings D4 note when sustained.
At least I can use Melodyne to correct it after converting output to audio.

Hi,
A high frequency artifact? Are you hearing it? Or just seeing it in a spectrum analyzer?

Hearing it... like a single sine wave at high pitch. I can uoload a sample if you'd like, but depending on your hearing you may not notice it as I do. Tinitis has taken over my left ear with the right one following.

Hi,
Yeah, I probably wouldn't be able to hear it*. Can you see anything in Voxengo Spectrum Analyzer? Send us a project file that illustrates the problem

Not really sure what to see on it, so , no.
I put the Acoustica 31 band EQ on it and found the offending freq @3.2K.
I can fix it with a quad curve style EQ set to near exact freq and bring back some of the lost freq with the 31 band. Might even make it sound better.

Hi,
You should note that those presets have effects on them already:
You can try turning those off, tweaking them, or replacing them with similar effects that you prefer.

Re: String Instruments Hi Freq Artifact
Thanks Greg, I normally don't mind the default FX set but good to know.
I'm just glad I was able to weed out the awful noise on D4. I suppose most users don't notice it but I have one project that's only piano and strings with D4 repeating throughout... and with headphones it was just very annoying, almost ruining the piece (and the peace).
I'd say the artifact is in the sample itself and could be replaced there if the creators are so inclined to fix it.
If not, this will do.

Hi,
Do you hear it without the effects that are built into the preset?

Re: String Instruments Hi Freq Artifact
Yes. The artifact seems to be from the way the sample was recorded.
Curious to know if D4 is from another recorded note spread over a range or the actual note recorded.

Re: String Instruments Hi Freq Artifact
FWIW: I listened to D4 Hall Strings (fast & slow), and Cavernous Strings with two different sets of monitors, headphones, plus earbuds, and I'm not hearing a hi frequency artifact.
EDIT: I just checked it out with the SPAN Spectrum Analyzer, and I don't see any hi frequency artifact either.

Could be, if no one else can hear it. It's only on the one note, tho.

Re: String Instruments Hi Freq Artifact
I have just spent a bit of time listening and analyzing the aforementioned presets, and I can neither hear anything unusual about D4 nor see any unusual spikes in those frequencies on a frequency spectrograph.
I am wondering about a possible hearing sensitivity issue? I can tell you there are certain notes on certain instruments that to me feel like when the dentist hits a spot with one of those high frequency cleaning tools, and it feels like it makes a direct connection to an aural nerve or something. Just a thought.
I also find some of those presets a little "brassy" and that a little dip in the EQ curve between 1k and 4k makes them sound a hint more "woody" to me. Either way, they aren't bad in context with other instruments.

Re: String Instruments Hi Freq Artifact
Here is a few various string section samples of D4 whole notes, tell me if any have the artifact you hear in your project?
