Recording audio distorted

Post by Qwoll »

Hello!

This is a new problem I havent had before with this mic. When recording in my mic, it sounds distorted, like as if the audio was being transmitted through a waki taki, that kinda distorted.

I tested my mic with other applications, and it records audio still really clearly. But somehow not in mixcraft.

What could be the problem?

Out of curiosity, what microphone (make and model) is it... And what other applications have you tested it with?

PS: I've used many different microphones with Mixcraft and never had a problem like you describe. However I've never used a USB type mic... So my first thoughts are you're using some cheap USB type mic, bad mic cable, bad mic placement, or overdriving preamp/input. Second thoughts are you're using some FX/Plugin and have it all out of wrack.

Are you recording vocals, or instruments (if instruments, amped or acoustic)?

Oh, and are you using Mixcraft 8.1 Pro (build 418) with Windows 10?

I’m using a AKG p420

I used the voice recorder app to test it, that comes with windows 10

And I’m using Mixcraft 8 Pro on windows 10 yes. And I keep it updated.

Also the track I was recording too had no fx enabled

I’m recording vocals

Hi,

How is your microphone connected to your computer?

Which recording mode are you using in Sound Device preferences: Core Audio (WaveRT), ASIO or Wave?

The microphone is plugged in via a behringer UMC1820

And I don’t know the answer to that other question...

To find out... Click on the gear icon on the top of Mixcraft to open "Mixcraft Preferences", then click on "Sound Device" in the dropdown menu.

Goto Behringer's website and download/install the most current drivers for your UMC1820 and Windows 10.
https://www.behringer.com/Categories/Be ... rans(en|en)
Then select "ASIO" in Mixcraft Preferences and use the UMC1820 as your Sound Device.

Hmm bummer, that's weird... If you start up your computer with the interface unplugged, then open a new Mixcraft project and plug the interface in, does Mixcraft recognize that a new device is detected?

Hopefully Greg will see this and help.

Hi,

Make sure you have the correct ASIO Device driver selected when you go to Preferences > Sound Devices.

This picture shows the ASIO device driver for my Behringer UMC204HD; your driver may be different.

Hello there,

Does the driver belong to the Behringer audio interface of the U-PHORIA line? If once assigned the UMC driver continues to distort, you have to disconnect the usb behind the Behringer module ( I mean the main USB cable of the interface that is connected to the computer...), wait about 15-30 seconds and reconnect it. This will solve the known distortion of the Behringer that corresponds to a known and not yet updated driver fault. Greetings and I hope it works!

Hello!

Ok so
Picture:

It seems to have fixed the problem with recording audio distorted. But, when UMC ASIO driver is selected, recording audio works but there's no playback... i think its trying to use a speaker somewhere I dont have one plugged in when I do that... But when ASIO4ALL v2 is selected, I can hear it, but not record...

I also tried all the available output options for UMC ASIO
