Making a gated reverb snare sound

Post by banzailoco »

This are the approximate settings for getting the gated reverb snare sound. First put the reverb, then FLOORFISH and the compressor last. Depending on the sound your looking for, you moved the release, threshold and output gain on the compressor. For FLOORFISH the release knob and click on Stereo.

Audiocation Compressor AC1

FLOORFISH

Voxengo Old Skool Reverb Plugin

First try with the AC1 compressor vst. When moving the threshold knob you're gonna see the needle moved.

You can then try with the Acoustica reverb and compressor to get the same result. Don't forget to turn off Auto gain.

I tested this on Genesis Land Of Confusion.mid file downloaded from the internet. You're gonna have to duplicate the drum track, removed the snare on the first track and on the second just leaved the snare for the fx.

Remember this is for personel use and learning. The midi track was created by someone that put his time and effort.

This is not my idea, I'm just following the step of others. Check this post for more info.
