Saving Markers
Have been using Mixcraft 8 for several months now. I can save markers when working on saving .mx8 files. But when I then save the file as a .mid file, or re-open a .mid file that had markers inserted, the markers are no longer there. How can I save markers in .mid files please.

I click on the little blue floppy disc icon on the top of MX8 to save my projects... It saves everything.

Re: Saving Markers
Hi,
When you open the .mid file, open it by clicking on Mixcraft's File menu and selecting Open Project.
Don't use "Add A Sound File" to add the .mid file.
Using Open Project will add various things like track markers that you wouldn't get otherwise.

Thanks for your replies. None of your suggestions worked.
If I save as an .mx8 file the markers are there when I re-open the file.
But saving and then re-opening as a .mid file they have gone.

Do the markers have tempo changes in them?

Personally, I was under the belief that MIDI files cannot store markers of any type, but apparently there is a MIDI marker meta message, so it could be possible for markers to be stored and recalled from MIDI files. However, to my knowledge, Mixcraft does not use this message, nor does it write this message to MIDI files created in Mixcraft. I'm actually not certain how many DAWs use the MIDI Marker meta message to load markers from MIDI files; I've never once seen it used before.
That being said, I've heard that Mixcraft 9 is in the works, so you could always bring this up as a feature suggestion in the Feature Request thread!

Re: Saving Markers
Hi,
If the MIDI files have markers in them, and if you use File Menu > Open Project to open them, the markers will be there.
Here's an example file:
Post the project file and I'll check it out.

Re: Saving Markers
Hi,
It will save them if there is a tempo or time signature change. I made a project that had markers with no tempo or time signature change, and those markers weren't saved. However, if the marker has a tempo change or time signature change, it will be in the saved MIDI file.
So, I guess the feature request would be to export markers as MIDI even if they don't have tempo or time signature changes.

Re: Saving Markers
Thanks people for your interest and suggestions.
Having also used various Cakewalk "editions" for many years with no problem saving markers, I'm frankly disappointed that Mixcraft doesn't seem to have this feature. Guess I'll just have to save my work as both project and midi files.

Hi,
Once again, Mixcraft will save the markers to a .mid file if there is a time signature or tempo change.
I've filed a feature suggestion to save markers with no tempo or time signature changes.
