Will future versions of Mixcraft work on Win7?
Hi everyone,
I know Mixcraft 9 has not yet been released but upon release would it support Windows 7? I am only curious as it seems Microsoft is dropping support for W7 sometime in January 2020. I would like to be able to hold on to 7 for as long as possible because everything running in the studio at the moment seems to be more stable on it imo however, I would still like the option to upgrade to the latest version of Mixcraft when it is released.
Regards,

Hi,
We can't guarantee eternal support for Windows 7, but I think you should be fine with Mixcraft 9.

FWIW: I recommend getting Windows 10 and start getting use too it now.

Even Microsoft doesn't guarantee updates for Win 7. You really should update and see what you've been missin'

Well.....
On one hand, if your hardware and drivers "like" Win7 you should have no reason to jump ship in the short term. Microsoft moves on.
If losing support meant a reduction in crap forced on me, I'd be all in.
On the other hand:
My attempt at a Win7 machine blew up in my face and never worked out. Wasnt Microsoft or Win7's fault. It was a faulty Dell machine and REALLY crappy customer service.
Out of frustration I went out and purchased an alternative machine with Win10. And while I wont sing praises for the OS, I made it work.
And didnt look back.
Progress.
Sort of.

Thanks for the replies guys, it seems Microsoft has sorted out most of the issues since I last looked into it from the sound of things.
The only issue is the deployment in the sense of turning off all the default crap that it seems to be on by default during first installation that may mess with Mixcraft. Since i'd say about 2016 I've mostly moved to Mac because work requires ProTools & Logic, however I'm not a fan of wine and bootcamp which is why I'm not making the complete switch to Apple so still sticking around with W7 until I can muster up the courage to make the switch to 10. I will have further investigation though as the replies make it tempting!

Hi,
Windows 10 is fine. Don't worry about it. You might have to update your audio driver, or maybe you won't.

FWIW: I liked W7 and resisted W10 too, expressly in the beginning when some software didn't work with W10 yet, so I waited... After waiting and talking with friends about a year or so ago I switched to W10. With that said: There were things I liked better about W7 (I.E. Familiarly, stereo mix, etc.), but W7 is near obsolete and W10 works well so I'm glad I switched to W10.

I don't!jlouvar wrote:FWIW: I recommend getting Windows 10 and start getting use too it now.
No he shouldn't. Sorry not a fan of Win 10 for a variety of reasons. If you don't have to, "upgrading" to 10 is ill-advised IMO. In fact, I plan on buying a new laptop with 7 if possible.trevlyns wrote:Even Microsoft doesn't guarantee updates for Win 7. You really should update and see what you've been missin'

Anyone use Windows 8.1? Is it any good? I have a copy that I never installed due to how bad Windows 8 was back in the day - the whole reason I went back to 7

Try installing Mixcraft 8 on a system that is running Windows '98 and your question will be answered ... Lol

I never used W8, but the "industry reaction" and reputation was very telling.
Like I previously wrote- if W7 is working for you stay with it until there's a reason not to.
W10 is fine as far as Mixcraft working. The difficult thing for me is just.... change. Things are slightly different. Moved. Sometimes hidden, etc. It just takes me a while.
