Hi,

It controls the volume of library loop sound previews, which was a popular feature request. It also controls sound tab playback volume, and Mixcraft system sounds, like the metronome and the track freezing sounds.

Hi,

If listening to loops in the library is too loud, turn the preview volume down. If the loops are too quiet, turn the preview volume up.

Some people wanted this feature because they'd be working on a quiet mix, and then the loop preview sounds would be blaring.

Carl, more info-

The problem is most loops and samples are normalized to 0dbfs, and when previewing them while working on a project, with the master fader set to unity, you often get blasted.
Similarly, the "freeze" sound when freezing tracks could be very loud in relation to a normal mix monitoring level. Painfully so on headphones.
The new MX9 "preview track" provides a method of attenuation for those kinds of audio inputs.

Note that some of us feel it would be good to have an option to collapse/hide the track so its not taking up valuable space. I would like to be able to set it to -12 (for example) and hide it personally.
Enhancement request logged.
Stay in tune, Mark

Thank goodness you've put a way to turn down loop previews, but how about putting the knob on the library page, where it makes more sense being there. There is plenty of room there for it...... :D :D :D

Good idea Dave. But if for some reason it can't be relocated/hidden at least I'd like to be able to rename the Preview track. I never use the loops but do use the Preview fader a fair bit for the metronome - tidier for me to just name the track Metronome.

It seems the preview fader is just a system volume fader. You do have a metronome fader in the metronome setting? It's just a click on the transport bar......
