Recording Playbeat VST

Post by r0bbie »

Anyone else here use playbeat at all for making beats? VST works, I can make my sweet jams but when it comes time to recording those sweet jams, well...I can't figure it out.

Audiomodern's PDF shows how to route the signal using a half dozen DAW's that aren't Mixcraft and nothing seems to translate over to me.

I can see the output's for playbeat in the Mixer but no options for routing these channels to a new audio channel can be found when i look.

Hope this makes sense.

I can make the beats. I can't figure out how to record/route the beats. Cheers!

Robbie,

I'm new to Mixcraft and I'm sure others can help you better but have you thought about arming an audio track and then recording?

Create a separate audio track.
Arm the record button red on the audio track.
Play your beat and I would expect it to record.

Thanks for replying Davey,

I've always been a bit confused by how virtual instruments get recorded. Never really wrapped my head around why some VSTi's (ie Serum) will record MIDI data and play when you use your keyboard while others that use software to trigger the synth (ie Playbeat or Riffer to Serum) won't.

The only way I know right now is to add Playbeat, add Serum (to the same Lane), make an empty MIDI box on the lane, right-click the header for the Lane, choose 'Mix to New Audio Track.' That builds a WAV on the lane. Funny thing is, I'm not even quite sure why the WAV it builds is the length it is. Seems random. But it's cool that you have the WAV to be able to mess with and change automation and stuff on without it being from the get go.

In the end I have sound! Woot!

Robbie,

You are not the only one confused by recording. The way you have done it is pretty much what I would do with plugins such as Scaler but sometimes I just create an audio recording - depends on what I'm doing.

Anyway glad to hear (:) ) you've got sound!

Right on! I also found this crazy plugin called MRecorder someone posted on some Acoustica thread 100 years ago that is really cool (and free). You basically stick it on a lane (it's a VST) and hit record and it makes a file that you can name and save wherever. Check it out!
