Soundtoys vst2 plugins display issue
There is a few display problems loading vst3s and some with vst2s (I logged a bugfile about Soundtoys vst2 plugins when using the tweak button in them causing the lower half of the plugins to disappear, then collapse when switched off - I logged it on November 28th, it was assigned to Russ Cary - No response in regard to it being fixed as yet, which is annoying as I just purchased their upgrade bundle as well as the upgrade to Mixcraft 9 - so please get it sorted out someone, thanks)

Re: Soundtoys vst2 plugins display issue
No. Obviously not, it was an upgrade, if they had done that in Mx8 I wouldn't have bought the upgrade as it prevents adjusting the plugins' parameters.
I'll test them all later, I have to go the bank as I've become overdrawn (for the first time) and if I don't get down there before 4pm (11am now) I'll be charged for the unarranged overdraft.

Re: Soundtoys vst2 plugins display issue
Okay, it is listed as Bug 11569
Every Soundtoys plugin which has an expanding window (such as the 'Tweak' window) suffers from the same disappearing act when the Mixcraft Audio Control window is used, but does not when used within the Soundtoys Effect Rack in Mixcraft 9 64 bit in Windows 10. The Soundtoys Effect Rack only seems to be available with the Soundtoys complete bundle and obviously complicates screen usage significantly, which makes this a significant issue. I don't know if expanding window systems of other manufacturer's plugins have the same problem.
I made a silent video showing the problem across most of the Soundtoys plugins
https://youtu.be/s3UIrfBNzIU
...
Hopefully that is clear and requires no further explanation
...
Feature request - please add a function to the collections list that mean when a plugin is selected from a list that when the plugin is changed to another selected plugin, the drop-down plugin selector primarily the list that the previous plugin was selected from. This would be a great time saver. As the video above shows it is extremely laborious trying to find even the plugin that is currently selected from the plugin drop-down selector list as it defaults to base level every time. Thanks

Re: Soundtoys vst2 plugins display issue
I've had my fair share of VST3 plugins that did not display correctly. It's hard to say where the bugs lie, in the host or the plugin. It's why I don't install VST3s anymore.
In this case Ian, I've replicated your experiment with Soundtoys with VST2. And I'm afraid it's not limited to Soundtoys either. I found the same strange behavior with the MJUC compressor.
The workaround for now would be to use the tweak button (or whatever expands the GUI) first and then midi/audio control drop down.
EDIT: or... after setting up audio/midi controller, close the drop down before expanding the plugin.

Re: Soundtoys vst2 plugins display issue
Hi,
Okay, so it's related to the new Audio Control / MIDI Control / LFO interface. Definitely a good bug. Thanks for reporting this!
By the way, Russ fixed your kaleidoscope bug in build 438 (which isn't available yet).

Re: Soundtoys vst2 plugins display issue
I thought as much
Interesting, closing it down first didn't actually occur to me, thanks for the suggestion Thomas. I'll give it a try later

Great news, thanks Greg. I'll look forward & backwards to it (at the same time, of course)

Re: Soundtoys vst2 plugins display issue
You're welcome Ian. It's just a workaround until the full fix is in.
