Intermittent crashing

Post by JohnS »

Hi
I have loaded up Mixcraft 9 and looks very good.
I used Jamstix and Korg M1 and different things happen at random times.
The program has frozen when loading M1 and other times ok.
Jamstix and Mixcraft just disappeared of the face of the screen once .
Loaded again and ok.
So there is various freezes going on at different moments.
I have a new machine and fast .
I do not know if you are aware of any things freezing.
Also a pop up happens when running the plugin finder.
It says Addictive drums which i also have has the wrong computer ID.
Are you using it in compatibility mode. Go to XLN manager and sort it out.
Addictive drums does appear and play ok,so i do not know what is going on there.
Also a couple of other plugins are are not compaible , but i unchecked them.
I wonder if this has any bearing on why i get some crashes as something in Mixcraft 9 is getting confused or something that i can do to make sure pop ups do not appear again although unchecked and Addictive drums 2 ok and working despite the pop up.
Maybe i need to fresh install Mixcraft 9 and get rid of traces in the registry and start again.
I did change my computer id way back and maybe Mixcraft sees the old ID somehow.
I am totally happy with my computer and it is a matter of just sorting this out as all other programs work flawlessly.

All the best
John :)

Hi,

Are you using build 442? If not, you should update and try it again. Choose Check For Updates from the Help menu, then quit Mixcraft as the patch downloads.

If the problems are happening with build 442, wait until it happens again, then quit Mixcraft and send us your Mixcraft-log.txt file.

To find the mixcraft-log file, highlight the following line and press Ctrl+C to copy it:

Code: Select all

%appdata%\Acoustica\Mixcraft\
Press the Windows Key+R to pop up the Run box in Windows. Click in the Run box and press Ctrl+V to paste in the line from above. Finally, click OK to go to the location of the mixcraft-log.txt file. Submit an Acoustica Support Request and attach the log file along with a brief description of the problem.

This can sometimes happen when you update your computer - Addictive Drums and Addictive Keys "forget" about your computer and think they are running on a new computer. All you have to do is open the XLN Manager, which should recognize that there is a problem and walk you through how to fix it.

Hi
Uninstalled and re-Installed XLN as all things go through the Installer.
It still comes up with wrong computer ID and are you running in compatibility mode.
Addictive drums still runs though and i have not had a freeze yet.
It has got to be something that Mixcraft is not picking up.
I tried it in my old Sonar program now free Bandlab and no problems there at all.
If i get any more crashes ,i will send log.

Hi
I have solved the XLN Additive drum problem and additive keys.

I got rid of all scans and found that Additive drums 2 was in the x86 section and i put the main in Program files VST.ThInstaller does it for you if you press save!!
I thought that i overrided by going through the properties on the XLN Installer
I chose another path which was correct but did not save it.
Now all ok and the Additive drums are in the main C Program files.
It is funny how you can miss something simple sometimes..
I am nervous a little, but i will put Jamstix 4 back and see if it crashes again.
I am wondering if VST 3 instruments in the wrong place in Win 10 has a knock on effect to cause a crash.
Once i sort all of this out i will make a system image.
My last System image did not work as i renamed the folder Music machine.
You are supposed to leave it as WindowsSystemImage or face the consequence like me.
I do not want ever to go back to bare bones, lol   :D
Oh that flaming learn curve!!

Hi As I expected
It is Jamstix 4 the culprit
I tried this also in Cubase and Jamstix 4 disappears after a while of use and takes the program or daw with it
I shall write to Rayzoon.
