Re: Next Noise and Show Noise
Hi,
First, those buttons only appear if you are using a cleaning preset that has noise reduction (all the Tape presets, and some others).
To get rid of hum, the software analyzes a "noise print," which ideally is a section of the recording that consists of the noise you want to get rid of with no song included. Spin It Again will select a noise print automatically, but you can click Next Noise if the current noise print doesn't seem to be producing good results. Basically, you just want to make sure none of the song is included in the noise print, or you'll be losing some of the frequencies of the song and it will sound bad. Zoom in to make sure.
Show Noise will scroll the wave display until the noise print is displayed. If it's already in view, nothing will happen.
Also note that with some recordings, a noise print isn't possible because there is no "silence," and those buttons won't appear at all. So, for hum or hiss removal, it's good to have a bit of recorded silence that exhibits the hiss or hum you are trying to remove.
