Recording from a PX-160 to 8.1 - I Need MONO

Happy New Year.

I'm recording my keyboard tracks from a Casio PX-160. The track records in stereo so my bass notes are in the left channel and treble in the right. Is there a setting I can alter so I can record the PX-160 in Mono?

I do see one work-around; I'd record the keyboard in stereo (if that is the default I can't change), mix down the specific keyboard track to a MONO wav, then add it as a sound file. But hopefully there's another solution...

Plug the left 1/4” mono output from your keyboard into your external audio interface, then click on the downward arrow next to the track arm button and change the input from stereo to whichever input you have your keyboard mono output plugged into. If you’re using the keyboard USB output you may need to setup the keyboard so it isn’t split.

Thank you Joe. I am using the USB. I posted the same question on the PX-160 board since there isn't any mention of changing the split with the USB in PX-160 user manual. Let's see if some one is as on the ball and kind as you over there

Hi,

If you were recording MIDI, you could do the split in Mixcraft. In other words, you could designate that a section of your keyboard plays one virtual instrument and another section plays a different one.

Good morning,

I'll try the stack n split option and the video later today, thank you. In the meantime I found another work-around: I edited the Stereo Grand Piano by panning 100 to the right, then on the VI track I pan 50% left. That seems to center the complete keyboard range.
