how to select and copy part of a track

Post by LeesKeys »

I have a project with 3 tracks. I want to copy and paste a section of one of the tracks. Not sure how best to do this. I tried using the timeline to select the bars I want to copy (in the same way I would select as section to set up a loop). I then selected the track I wanted to copy that section from. However, when I copy and paste, it has copied and pasted that section of all tracks in my project. I know that I can create a split at the beginning and end of the desired section in the specific track and copy and paste that, but there must be a way of doing this without splitting the track into sections.

Hi!
Instead of the timeline, make your selection in the track clip itself (not the header, but the part where the waveform is). Right click>copy then paste where you want.

Thanks Trevor. I was clicking on the track header. I should have clicked on the track contents.
