I have moved Mixcraft to a new computer, including all the mentioned support folders, and while previous work plays back, I am unable to record additional material. Mixcraft says that either I don't have access to the PREVIOUS recording path or it's invalid. Both are true. The User in the path doesn't exist on the new computer, and it's the wrong path anyway as I've placed the Mixcraft Projects folder on my data drive, D.
Following a tip elsewhere on this forum, I used Copy Project Files to a folder on the old computer, transferred that folder to the new computer and its Mixcraft Projects folder. Loads fine but still won't let me record, not even to a new track. The recording path is embedded somewhere and hasn't changed after everything I've tried.
How do I change the recording path so that I can continue working?

Re: Moving to a new computer - Recording Path
Hi,
That setting is in Recording preferences. By default, it would be this:
C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\Mixcraft Projects\
Where "USERNAME" is your own Windows login name.
Don't put it in Program Files, or any similar folder where write permissions would be an issue.

Re: Moving to a new computer - Recording Path
Thanks, Greg, but Recording Preferences is set correctly. The problem arises with songs that have been transferred from old computer to new. Something in the song still remembers where it was recorded before and still wants to record there. The song won't let me record even in a new track. I considered mixing down to stems, but that wouldn't allow me to add or record new tracks. Seems like copied songs should respect the Recording Preferences setting.

Hi,
Select the Project tab and set the correct project folder there.

Thank you, thank you! Checked and tested. That was it.
I thought I was beginning to know this software pretty well, but I sure never saw THAT. Is it in the manual?
Anyway, it's a big relief because of a number of songs I've worked on previously.
Forward!
