instrument track to another track.

Post by gerhost »

Hi there!
Asked my question a long time ago. Also got good tips. Can't find the post anymore.
How to assign an instrument track to another track.
For example
Drums EZ Drummer is supposed to play the addictive drums.

Any instrument should play any midi file, you should just be able to switch instruments like you normally would.

Are you talking about EZD2 and SD expansion packs or the midi grooves you can get?

Hi,

How would that work? You'd hear EZDrummer, but also hear Addictive Drums play the same notes? You could just put the same notes on both tracks.

Some virtual instruments will pass MIDI on to the next instrument if you put both instruments on the same track. Did you try that?

There is a Route To Track option that allows a track to send its MIDI to another track (see page 288 of the manual). Not sure if that's what you're talking about.

There's also an option that allows you to send the MIDI notes from a track to an effect (page 244), but you mentioned two instruments.

If it's grooves you're after... drag the groove from EZDrummer onto the track in Mixcraft, then move it to the Addictive Drums track.

Hi Greg!
No, I just want to use the EZ Drummer track to control addictive drum. When opening VST there are "External Midi devices" I don't know my way around.

What are you trying to do, exactly?

It sounds like you want one of the EZD grooves to play but only hear the Addictive sounds. Am I right? Then I would follow Greg's advice in the quote above.

One thing, though, is the possibility that the hits won't line up. For example, you may have to move the snare hit that was predetermined by EZD and move it to match AD's snare location. Unless they are the same, then no worries.

Hi,

Just add both EZDrummer and Route To Track on the same track.

In this screenshot, I'm routing it to Acoustic Piano on track 2.

Hi,

What happens?

If you put Acoustic Piano on the second track instead, does it work? In other words, can you get it to work if it's not Addictive Drums?
