Akai Pro: MPD226 - WAS: MIDI Controller Keyboard Survey

Post by bbarrett »

Just purchased an Akai Pro: MPD226, and I'm having some issues setting it up. I am a bit of a novice with this, but I checked the supported hardware and while Akai products are there, this particular model doesn't seem to be.

Am I doing something wrong or did I make a mistake by not checking the supported hardware before purchasing? Currently using MC9

Hi,

We don't have specific support for that unit, but you should be able to use Mixcraft's MIDI Learn function to map the controls.

I have the Akai LPD8 pad and knob combo, you may have to familiarize yourself with the akai software to facilitate midi learn. I have my pads set up to EZDrummer kits by default.

I have the same controller and no problems with it in Mixcraft 9 Pro Studio. Should be class-compliannt, aka plug and play. I had to map the pads manually on the MPD itself to correspond with the assigned midi notes on the Omnisampler.

Thanks for the replies!

I didn't realize I could just go right into midi learn without having a control surface configured in Preferences. It picked up the inputs right away!

That said, the particular item I was really hoping to control doesn't appear to be configurable through midi learn...I attached an image of a MIDI track with a BBC orchestra instrument's automation parameters, the knob which appears isn't purple when you try and midi learn.

Any thoughts or workarounds I might use to accomplish this?

I have a new Akai MPK miniplus. Has anyone found/made a midi mapper program for MPK miniplus to Mixcraft 9?

Hi,

Use Mixcraft's MIDI Learn option to map the controls.

Check out this old video on MIDI mapping:
