Automatic Double Tracking

Post by Ianpb »

I was looking through the plugins4free website recently, and noticed an old 32-bit plugin called 'Unstable'. Seeing what it does, ie. adds instability to the audio signal and allows it to be combined with the original via a mix control, I realised that this might work as an automatic double tracking effect - and it does - although, in my opinion, best suited to backing vocals. I've not yet tried it on any instrument.

With the 'Mix' set at a bit below half way, the effect controls need to be set high, which effectively produces two versions of the same voice. It leaves Waves' unconvincing 'Reel ADT' standing, and without the flanging and phasing artefacts.
