FX Crash

Post by Ehlert »

Hi,

When I try to load them, quite a few of my FX crash my DAW. I get the "stop responding" message. In the lower right CPU Mixcraft and System indicators rarely reach above 8% or 15% respectively. How can I fix this?

Sometimes you just have to suck it up and find an alternative. I've got a plugin from Waves that when I add to a track, Mixcraft won't let me add subsequent FX after it. It's like it just disables the add FX function. It also creates a nasty spike when I mix down or reopen the session. So I just use it for monitoring then remove from the chain when I'm done. Thankfully, it's only a Loudness Meter plugin so not the end of the world, but that's really not the issue. The Acoustica EQ also used to crash the DAW so I've just disabled that one.

Hopefully you have better luck in resolving the issue, if at all possible.

I've not had that happen on anything critical that I use, but if something consistently gives crash problems I just disable it. I have a lot of plugins so lots of alternatives usually. Sometimes something will crash as a one-off thing and then run fine afterwards, so don't know what happens in those cases. I find vst2 sometimes is more stable than vst3 if you have the option. I have a habit of trying alot of free or inexpensive plugins and they may tend to have more problems than the more well known and tested stuff.

Thank you for your replies. The FX's that crash Mixcraft were all shipped with the product and not installed by me. I had an older, inferior PC with which I never experienced the crash issues using the version of Mixcraft 9. It's FX's like TrebleCream, XBass 4000L, DUBSHOX, etc. that crash the program.

Yes, I could live with it (I may have to), but on the other hand, there could be a solution out there :-)

Hi,

The next time you get plugin failures, quit Mixcraft and send us your mixcraft-log.txt file.

To find the mixcraft-log file, highlight the following line and press Ctrl+C to copy it:

Code: Select all

%appdata%\Acoustica\Mixcraft\
Press the Windows Key+R to pop up the Run box in Windows. Click in the Run box and press Ctrl+V to paste in the line from above. Finally, click OK to go to the location of the mixcraft-log.txt file. Submit an Acoustica Support Request and attach the log file along with a brief description of the problem.
