Installing a vst's pre-sets

I cant seem to find a way to install a downloaded vst's per-set files as recommended. I have no file in my Documents folder with the requested names.

Hi,

Looks like that plugin doesn't have an installer that would make those folders for you.

I don't know what version of Windows you have, but open up Windows File Explorer (Windows Key + E), browse to your Documents folder, click on New up at the top, select Folder, and make the VST3 Presets folder. Next open up that folder, do the same thing and make the Green Oak Software folder, finally open up that folder and make a Cesium folder inside. Put the plugins there.

Thanks Greg, I believe I did that and it still didn't recognize the files within MC 9 Pro. BTW Win. 10 Pro. Ver. 21H2. I will attempt that again and post my results.

Okay, I installed it and it doesn't have a preset setting, so there's no way to get at the presets. Mixcraft won't find them. Why do some plugin makers do that? Why not have a preset browser in the interface?

Yea Greg It still don't recognize the files there. When I select the search button on the effect installed in the track it seems to default to Program files>common files>VST3 and of course I didn't install the files there. If I then Manually direct it to the location of the files then select one it still wont load or recognize the file.

Hi,

Yeah, you won't be able to load the presets via Mixcraft's preset interface. That's why I was lamenting the fact that some plugins don't have their own preset browser.

A slow drudgy way to build those presets as user presets might be to open the preset files in an XML or text view, and then eyeball the numbers as percentages of the dial position. 1.00 would be the dial turned all the way up .50 would be the dial at halfway. Adjust the dials and switches according to the ons and offs and percentages and then save each one as a user preset in Mixcraft.

Another way would be to load the VST into something like VSTHost. You can view the percentages as well as the graphic display of the plugin. You can then match the Plugin running in Mixcraft to the plugin running in VSTHost and match the switch and dial positions - then save that as a user preset in Mixcraft.

VSTHost allows the loading of the vst presets from the vendor.

All these ways require you to rebuild the preset in Mixcraft and save it.

Great ideas cactus-head. I will try them..well maybe only the second one. The first I believe is above my pay-grade! I usually don't use the pre's as a rule, but sometimes it's a good starting point to get me in the ball park.
