Are there any intrsument emulating plugins?

I am looking for a plugin that allows me to play my guitar and instead emulates a bass guitar or other strings instrument. Is there anything like that available? Thanks so much in advance

You can dial in a lot of different 'emulations' with a decent amp sim, I have Amplitube and I won't end up using most of the options it offers.

What I've done in the past too, is simply record the guitar part and convert to midi - right click the clip and the option is there. Then just add whatever instrument you want.
OK for simple parts - I've used the acoustic bass a couple of times.
