Is there a way to customize your virtual instruments on a midi controller?

Post by Soul »

Hello Friends :) I am looking to see if there is a way to place customize what note of a virtual instrument pays when i hit a specific key on my midi controller. Meaning if a kick drum loads up from a plug in on the 1st pad, can I change it to the 3rd pad and place or organize a different samle to play from the 1st pad? I assume there must be a demand and a way to accomplish this. Thanks in advance :)

Hi,

There's a free VST called Notemapper that can receive a certain MIDI note from an input source (like a keyboard or MIDI controller pad for example) and then output a different MIDI note.

When adding instruments to a Mixcraft track, Notemapper would be the first instrument in the chain followed by whatever virtual instrument you want triggered. In Notemapper, for the specific note and channel received, you set the note you want to playback. In the example screenshot, I'm telling Notemapper that when B2 is received, it remaps the output to C3 .

Hi,

Or run the setup for your MIDI controller to change what the pads are sending.

With my Impakt LX 25+ you can change pad assignments. You hit pad assign, press they key of a midi note you want to assign, press the pad you want then press pad assign again and it's stored.

I have two Arturia MIDI Controllers, and they come with a great MIDI CONTROLLER EDITOR that pretty much lets you define every key if you want.
