Maybe I'm the last to figure this out, but
[1] if you click on the track's 'colour bar' it opens the colour selection menu.
[2] clicking the little blue boxes on the effect description toggles viewing that effect on and off.
[Please don't tell me this goes back to MC4 or something . . .]
Also - Is there is similar way to toggle viewing an instrument?

One advantage of ctrl+right-click is that it closes all the open instrument or effect plugins on that track.

Great tips. Ha! I hadn't noticed either one of these. I'll have to try them. This is definitely quicker than what I've been using for track color. Greg mentioned the right-click on the instrument icon to open for vstis a while back and it's been one of my favorites since then. I didn't know about cntrl-right click to close either, but will remember to use it also.
