Takes in Loop Mode Split Issue

Post by ppayne »

Hi everyone,

I have a problem with takes when loop mode is turned on. Then all the takes available on a track are split at the start and end position of each new take. After 10 takes, all previous takes have been broken down into small parts. I always destroy all my takes and then have to reconnect them again and again after each new take. This happens to me with audio and midi takes

Is there an option to stop this behavior?

I'm using takes for recording guitar. I use the loop.
I have only at the most did 5 takes and nothing broke apart.
And if I play it sounds like 5 guitars on top of one another. fat.
I wish I could help.

Thank you hpharley90. Very interesting. It seems also to be related to the Takes option on the track. Overdub seems to work properly as you describe. Then the Takes mode in connection with loop mode has an issue in MC 10. In MC 9 this still worked properly.

Sorry, I am unable to duplicate your issue using takes and looping in Mixcraft 10.1 build 579

By any chance do you have a multitimbral synth or multi channel input being used to record? There could also be a MIDI clock running that is outputting time code that is causing perhaps a start and stop recording situation. Im just throwing things in the air

Hi cactus,

No, nothing special is going on. It happens with all takes for me, whether midi or audio.

Simply set the track mode to takes, activate loop mode and record a few takes. Then place the cursor in the middle and record a short piece. So not the full loop length. Afterwards all disabled takes are divided. I also use MC 10.1 Build 579.

Maybe there's an option I'm missing?

Hi,

I can't get it to happen either. Are you using build 579?

Greg

Testing takes recording mode.

Hi Greg,

yes, I use 10.1 build 579. Maybe in couple with a MIDI option???

Here is what I have set:

Hi,

But you said it also happens with audio, right?

In regard to those MIDI settings, I don't have the option to remove Program Change messages from imported MIDI, but everything else is the same.

That's nice Greg. Is there an option so I can prevent this until it is fixed?

HI,

Actually, it turns out that this is just the way Takes mode works in Mixcraft 10. Why? Because with Takes we assume that you probably want to discard the previous audio. Or maybe you want to keep the previous audio and discard the new audio. Automatically splitting the clips makes that easier.

There is currently no option to disable this. That would be a feature request.

Hi

I get the idea Greg. But look at the screenshots and ask yourself if it makes sense to anyone in the world if you always destroy all your takes. Then please give me an option to protect myself from this feature in the next version  Otherwise, the takes mode is no longer usable for me.

This has never been the case in other versions Trevor. I used this mode since MC 7. For example, you try different melodies. Or you have played away and press stop and rec again to start a new take. During this process, everything is shredded now
