what part of pianissimo physical modeling

I hadn't realized until I read about this in another forum... so a part of pianissimo is physically modeled? So what exactly about it is modeled? To be honest, I only hear samples.

Pianissimo is modeling things like the tone and resonance of a large wooden piano cabinet, the effect of the piano lid, the effects of sympathetic resonance on sustainging strings and the various hammer sounds and mechanical noises of a grand piano.
