44.100 kHz to 48.000 kHz

Post by hpharley90 »

I still have my interface at 44.100 kHz and MC too. I want to go up to 48.000 kHz.
The problem is I have a lot of unfinished projects and when I open them in new settings it does not work.
Going forward in the immediate future I want to go to 48.000kHz.
I'm looking for suggestions on how I can do this while still having projects in 44.100kHz.
I use focusrite 2i2.
thanks

Hi,

You should be able to just switch to 48000 Hz. What's not working when you do that? What happens?

I don't remember exactly but I have a question before going forward with change.
I changed my Focusrite 2i2 to 48.000kHz.
On future recordings I will change in Mixcraft preference to 48.000kHz sample rate.
Should I change my past projects that were recorded 44.100 to 48.000 in Mixcraft preferences or do I leave them as is and use with Focusrite set at 48.000?
Or should I just change Focusrite setting to match past project setting?

Thanks

Hi,

Just set Mixcraft to 48000 Hz and don't worry about what the older projects were recorded at.

One thing to consider though is that some instruments might not sound right when you switch from 44.1 to 48.

I tried it a while back and there was an issue and I can't remember what but as soon as I went back to 44.1 it was good again.
So I'm just going to change back to 44.1 on my older projects. It's simple enough.

Hi,

You should be fine. The main concern is that some plugins don't sound right if the sample rate is different when you mix down. If you happen run into that problem, just mix down to a wav file with a sample rate of 48000 hz.
