true:balance is also an option I use sometimes. It's more or less the same as the Ozone plugin. The option to add reference tracks is quite good in true:balance from Sonible. Maybe Ozone have the same feature. I'm not sure.

Trev, your points definitely hit home.

Years ago, it got into my head that i needed some kind of accoustically perfect mic sound booth type environment when recording at home. My goal was only to get ideas down but somehow i got caught up in the hype that I had to have a "professional level" mic setup or something similar where i should isolate myself in a closet or build a booth.

I got caught up in the idea of equeing the mic just right, and the perfect mics to get for the perfect situation etc. I spent so much time researching and hunting for all these ideals that i got further and further away from actually from making any music at all.

Time just kept going by and I hadn't even recorded a single note or written a single tune. Then I came upon a youtube channel where this guy put everyrhing in perspective for me: he simply said if you arent recording, then you're not recording and probably just wasting time.

If you aren't putting down your ideas, you aren't creating anything. He also mentioned the mic environment: if the environment is too echoey or noisy for your mic, record under a heavy blanket. Just use what you have and get your ideas down. Don't make excuses, just record.

Everything he said resonated with me. I had completely forgotten that i just wanted to make music.

Because we are all stupid

I created a maximum of 20 songs with recorded vocals over the years. Each of the songs has a maximum of 3 minutes of vocals.

So 20 * 3 minutes = 60 minutes of vocals in total.

Anyone with a brain chooses the pillows for this frequency of use. But we want to pay 750€ for 1 hour to be professional Maybe better we hear what Trevor has to say on his channel

There are few books from Steven Pressfield "do the work" and "war of art". They can be found as free PDF books. He explains all the resistance what creative work can have. I always remember these books when i get lost on some time wasting things.

When i started i made deadlines, first 5 songs i made one per week, really pushing, every monday i sent song to be released. After these 5 songs out i got panic attack. It was good to show myself i can really do it till the end. Since then i have not made schedules or deadlines and productivity is on different level. I have learned lot of things but still it aint easy to make songs till the end. I have lost myself so many times similar things as cactus head says, concentrating to some details which aint helping to go forward with productivity.

There has been some days im so tired that i cannot do anything else than open mixcraft and look its beauty. Maybe trying to find some function to learn from it.

+1 for the book The War of Art. This one paragraph summed it up for me.

It was exactly how cactus describes it for me too. I lost myself in the technical possibilities. I suspect this is the case with all newbies.

I also came to the second conclusion that I simply don't have enough free time to produce on a consistent basis. I would actually have to be unemployed to be successful at this. A few years ago I realized that it would be a hobby forever.
