No autoscroll by selecting notes

Post by embx1961 »

Hi,

I am pretty new to Mixcraft so maybe I overlooking something.

In the piano roll while I select notes it does not scroll to parts outside the window view. Just after loading a midi it is okay but after a few moments it not work anymore and so I am stuck as I cannot select notes outside the viewing area as it does not scroll sideways and up or down.

I looked in the forums a bit but not find anything regarding this issue so far.

Any idea what can cause this? Thanks in advance

I just tried it. This seems to work on my side. Maybe it's the scaling. I have mixcraft set to 100 percent.

Thank you,

I have scaling at 100%
It start after a few minutes working in certain tracks. Suddenly when I click the left mouse button to drag in the piano roll to select notes it does not scroll up or down and sideways anymore outside the viewing window.

After restarting Mixcraft it works again but after a few minutes suddenly the same problem. I tried it with different midi files too, the same happens.

I will borrow another mouse from a friend to see if my mouse is maybe wonky, although it works for everything else.

Hi,

Can you select the note and then use the arrow keys to move it outside the window when that happens?

Hi Greg,

Yes, when I select a note or notes and use the arrow keys the piano roll will scroll along if the notes go outside the current view.

Hi,

Dragging a note in 10.5 it sems to work. Is this what you're talking about?

MC 10.5 drag MIDI note.gif
MC 10.5 drag MIDI note.gif (544.69 KiB) Viewed 127 times

I can force it to "break" and stop scrolling and then reactivate it. It seems like it is a bug.

If you make any selections across the top of the MIDI clip details area it will cause the autoscroll to stop when using the mouse:

MC 10.5 stop drag MIDI note.gif
MC 10.5 stop drag MIDI note.gif (425.45 KiB) Viewed 95 times

To fix it, drag the loop end or the loop start marker backward then forward:

MC 10.5 restart drag MIDI note.gif
MC 10.5 restart drag MIDI note.gif (675.05 KiB) Viewed 127 times

Hi cactus-head,

It was not the note dragging but selecting a bunch of notes by holding the left mousebutton down and drag to select a bunch of the notes.
I tried your solution when it happened again by moving the loop mark a bit back and then back to it original place the scrolling worked again.

Thanks :)
