Where are VST presets stored?
Hi - I have a PC with two bootable Windows partitions - one for everyday use and one optimised for music production.
The other day I was in my default partition, working on a song in MC10, and I had a set of samples loaded into OMNI and saved as a preset.
Today, I booted into my music partition and found that the preset that I had saved was no longer visible or available. I searched my HDDs but cannot find any file with the name that I gave to my preset.
So - where are presets stored? Is there any way to share them between bootable partitions (all my music files and data are on a separate SSD that can be accessed by both bootable partitions). I had assumed (hoped!) that they would be saved with the relevant song...?
Thanks!

Hi,
Here you go:
Virtual instrument preset folder:
%appdata%\Acoustica\Mixcraft\InstPresets
Effect presets folder:
%appdata%\Acoustica\Mixcraft\FX
Effect chain presets:
C:\ProgramData\Acoustica\Mixcraft\MetaPresets7
Samples needed for custom Omni Sampler presets:
C:\ProgramData\Acoustica\Mixcraft\Samples

Actually, starting with Mixcraft 10, I think the first two are:
Virtual instrument preset folder:
%programdata%\Acoustica\Mixcraft\InstPresets
Effect presets folder:
%programdata%\Acoustica\Mixcraft\FX
With Mixcraft 10 we moved a lot of plugin stuff to the ProgramData folder because of write errors old plugins like Messiah v1 were having.

Re: Where are VST presets stored?
Not 100% sure whether my issue relates to the 10.5 update, but for some reason I now don't have any effect chains available in Pro Studio. It's like they got wiped out somehow.
I opened a previous project where I'd used a mastering effect chain, and all the effects were there, but again - '<No effect chains avaialable>'
Is there a way to get them all back without having to uninstall/reinstall? I'm guessing that would upset additional plugin config / other preferences..
Looking at the folders above - it seems I've got a mixture of (new/old) folders in %appdata%/Acoustica, and programdata/acoustica. I only have Mixcraft 10 installed now (probably had 9 on this machine at some point) - so would be good to know where Mixcraft is looking for effect chains...

Re: Where are VST presets stored?
Hi,
That hasn't changed, the effect chain presets should be here:
C:\ProgramData\Acoustica\Mixcraft\MetaPresets7
Check for updates and make sure you installed all the updates. Or maybe you need to log into your account at store.acoustica.com and download the latest installer.
For Mixcraft 10, here's the complete list:
Virtual instrument preset folder:
C:\ProgramData\Acoustica\Mixcraft\InstPresets
Effect presets folder:
C:\ProgramData\Acoustica\Mixcraft\FX
Effect chain presets:
C:\ProgramData\Acoustica\Mixcraft\MetaPresets7
Samples needed for custom Omni Sampler presets:
C:\ProgramData\Acoustica\Mixcraft\Samples

Re: Where are VST presets stored?
Thanks Greg,
I thought I'd installed all updates (there were a few over the past few times I started Mixcraft). C:\programdata\Acoustica\Mixcraft\MetaPresets7 was empty (other folders seemed ok). I downloaded the latest installer (10.5.596), and installed. This then had one more update (Controller Scripts), but C:\programdata\Acoustica\Mixcraft\MetaPresets7 is still empty, and <No effect chains available>. Weird.

Hi,
If you make a test effect chain, does it show up in that folder?

Re: Where are VST presets stored?
Sorry for late reply - just saved an effect chain, and yes - visible in MetaPresets7 folder. The install log also did mention 0 effect chains found, so it was aware when I reinstalled.
09:22:34 [235 mils] : Scanning Effect Chains.
09:22:34 [235 mils] : 0 Effect Chains found.
Seems the log location's changed recently, as the 'original' installation log for 10 was in the parent folder, and showed..
18:13:17 [228 mils] : Scanning Effect Chains.
18:13:17 [228 mils] : 56 Effect Chains found.
Anyway - I guess the installer, whilst detecting there's no effect chains, doesn't then put them back, so I guess unless I completely uninstall, my only option would be getting a zip of the 56 (or however many) effect chain presets, to put back.

Hi,
Try uninstalling Mixcraft and then downloading and installing the updated installer: https://store.acoustica.com/downloads/m ... -installer.
(Uninstall from Windows Apps settings.)

Thanks Greg, got there in the end.
Uninstalled/reinstalled. Had to rescan for VST folders/plugins, and reinstall legacy plugins - but not too painful

Hi,
Thanks for letting me know that helped. I think one other person has reported this, but I'm not sure what would cause it.
