Make sounds go left to right

How do record a sound to go left to right or right to left. There is the pan knob but then it only comes out of one side I am looking do a continuous sound that fades from one side to the other.

You can automate this ... using the PAN automation line.

Where it says Volume in the drop down box at the top, change this to Pan. Then drag the line to the top of the audio where you want it to start, then drag the other to the bottm
