Multiple Sends on a Track

Post by homemadehitshow »

I understand the basic concept of send tracks pretty well but I'm getting confused when trying to use multiples and the pre/post fader options.'

To try to make a simple example

Send1: AutoTrune
Send2: Reverb
Send3: Chorus

I am unclear how they related to each other and any options I have for reordering them.

One thing for example I noticed is that if I send 100% to the AutoTune and 100% to the reverb, I get audio without reverb coming from the autotune one and with from the reverb one. If I turn the volume on the autotune one to zero I am unclear if it's taking effect or not and whether it's output is going to the reverb and chorus ones. Confused yet :)

Don't worry about whether it's auto tune or not just how they interact with each other.

Thanks

So I guess I got the answer to at least part of my question. Sends are independent and are not serial or stacked. So if I want my tuned vocals to go into my Little Alter Boy I have to run them as inserts (or at least partly)

Hi.
To do what you propose to do has an inherent danger of causing possible audio feedback loops as the send channels would then also need sends enabled in their channel strips and in my personal opinion, why it should never be implemented.

I didn't propose anything. I was trying to understand.

Sends are Independent processing paths, on which you can blend varying levels from multiple sources. The processed output is sent to the main bus, as is the original. There is no interaction between send bus tracks.

I cant think of a reason to place AutoTune on a send personally, but people have varied work flows and methods.
I would tune individual tracks. Maybe there a use on a grouped submix? Never tried it.

I usually use sends for reverbs and delays. Rarely much else.
Stay in tune, Mark
