Is the search recursive?

Jens,

Are your unwanted VSTs in subfolders where the parent folder is in the list?
No, it's my complete standard 64bit folder (i.e. C:\Program Files\VstPlugins) - I just realized that Mixcraft also added a non-existing 32bit path that slightly differs from mine (i.e. it added C:\Program Files (x86)\VstPlugins which doesn't even exist on my machine, so it's basically just fishing in the dark and got a hit with my 64bit plugins.)

My VST3 plugins also sit in the standard folder, of course, so they're in a completely diffrent place.

Hi,

What are a few examples of plugins you're concerned about? Please go into Mixcraft 10's general preferences, zip up your log files, and send in a support ticket with the log files attached.

I'm not concearned about any plugins - I just want Mixcraft to not scan C:\Program Files\VstPlugins, which I never told it to do and which I can't seem to stop it from doing.

I'd say you must have hardcoded this path by the look of it after all (since Mixcraft also keeps adding one (and even after having removed it manually several times) that doesn't even exist on my system), so tbh I really can't see what my log-files would have to do with that.

I can make a video of Mixcraft putting these paths right back in on its own just after I deleted them, if need be.

Sorry if I appear a bit sharp at this point...

Edit: sorry, I don't know what's wrong with the quote - I can't seem to fix it for some reason...

Hi,

It’s not hard-coded to search that particular folder, but it may be searching your computer’s default VST2 folder. Sending in your log files should help to clarify the situation.

Yes, I just checked and it's pulling them from the registry instead (I just deleted the entry for the non-existant 32bit path and now Mixcraft doesn't add it anymore after I have removed it again) - the question is just: why does Mixcraft keep reading it out from the registry? I mean I get why you would help a beginner by adding these paths automatically after a fresh install - but once the user manually removed them?
It just doesn't make sense to keep reading them out from the registry and adding them back in...

"here let me help you"
"no thanks, I'm good"
"I'll help you cross the street"
"but I don't want to cross the street"
"It's okay, don't worry, I'll help you"
"But I don't need any help"
"here take my hand and let's go"
"I DON'T WANT TO CROSS THE STREET"
"No need to get upset - don't worry - I'm here to help you"

Hello,

The behavior you describe may not be usual behavior so the request for your logs is likely to see if there is something happening to cause this.

I am unable to recreate the problem you are describing related to the VST folders.

The screenshot below shows my list of folders before I remove all but the E drive; and then after with just the E drive remaining. I removed most of the VST folders, closed Mixcraft, reopened it and viewed the list of folders. Only the E drive was listed like the screenshot. Unfortunately, now that the test is over I have to go back and re-add my folders. :D

Oh, thanks for that - that's positively weird! Oh, and sorry that you had to go through the trouble
(exactly what I was thinking immediately when reading your post - "but now's he's got to manually re-add them just because of me")

It's super weird so it's better if you can get it solved because it must be very frustrating. And the whole test set me back about 5 minutes. I know - grueling.

Yup, log files help us figure things out. We can't fix anything if we don't know the details.
