Synchronizing midi window with track window

I want the sound tab midi window to be in synch with the track window -- both for the length of the track and the position of the cursor during play. When I double click the midi track to open the sound tab for midi, the length of the midi piece is different from the midi track. Also, when I play the track, the cursor in the sound tab does not follow the cursor in the track. I want everything to stay in sync -- both top and bottom. I've researched both the pdf file and youtube but can't find a way to do this. What is the "secret"? Thanks.

p.s. By length I mean size, or I guess it would be zoom level. I want to be able to look down from the track position and see the midi notes at the same place as in the track. If I position the cursor at the top, I want the midi view to go there also. Zoom in midi view should follow zoom in track view.

Never mind. I accidently had the track armed is why it wasn't looking right.
