Named samples in library changing to a diferent sample
Some of my sample loops in the library no longer produce the sample mentioned but plays a different sample.
So for instance, a sample that had the correct sound attached, say drums, now plays a different sample of say a synth part.
Any idea of what may be going on?

Hi,
Can you please zip up your log files, and submit a support ticket, with some specific examples of sounds that are wrong?

Re: Named samples in library changing to a diferent sample
Hi Greg
I followed the instructions for uploading a zip file and put three example images within the zip file.
I hope I got it correct.
Each time I start a new project the problem grows and it seems to be spreading across folders.
Here's one image I sent.
In that instance I selected the guitar sound from the library but got the piano sound.
Let me know if nothing arrives.
Thanks for looking at this.
Ray.

Hi,
We haven't received anything from the email you're using for these forums. Maybe send the log files without the image files?
If the zip file is over 10 MB or so, we might not get the ticket.

Hi Greg.
I'm sure the log I sent was under 3MB with 3 images.
I have now tried a second time and saw a progress bar in the bottom left corner of the program after pressing yes to upload.
There is already an image of the mixer panel in the log file I did not put there myself.
This is what I saw when dealing with sending the log files just now.

Hi,
I see them now. I thought you were going to send in a support ticket with the logs attached, but you just uploaded the logs. What are the exact names of a few of the sounds that come up wrong?

Re: Named samples in library changing to a diferent sample
Hi Greg.
Well there are quite a few in the sample pack of my first picture.(60s protest rock) The two directly below the one highlighted in the image for starters.
I don't know how many exactly are corrupt but it seems to be spreading. Some samples used in previous projects no longer give the correct sounds in new projects but still play OK in the projects they were used in.
If I place a wrongly labelled sample in a new project but plays the sound/phrase I need, it stays that way.
It's now 3:35 am where I am so will help further later, if possible.
I should add, all my samples are on my C: drive in the default folder as most samples/loops are now on my hard drive unless they get stored somewhere else as well as they are added to a project. I have not as yet transferred copies of the files and project to a new saved destination folder. I only do that when a project is complete.

Re: Named samples in library changing to a diferent sample
Hi,
That's really strange. It's like some loop files have been renamed. If you delete DrumBeat Break2.ogg from Windows, then start up Mixcraft and try to play it, does it go back to being drums?
Are you using any file tagging, renaming software? Maybe that's involved somehow.

Re: Named samples in library changing to a diferent sample
Hi Greg.
I'm not sure what you mean by file tagging, most of the affected files, but not all of them, I have never used in a project.
Your suggestion worked though so I will go through the files bit by bit over time and delete them as and when necessary.
What I have done from time to time is place a loop or sample on a track and then later removed or replaced it with another loop at the same position on the same track. Sometimes I have then chopped the loop to fit or remove notes and then used merge to form a new audio loop.
Other than that I can't think of anything else I may have done.
Thanks for the solution, I would never have thought of that. It is much appreciated and it is most probably caused by (my) user error although for the life of me I can't think of what that might have been.

Re: Named samples in library changing to a diferent sample
Hi,
A file tagging utility allows people to edit the tag information in audio files. I only mentioned that because you were using something called MediaInfo to view the ogg file info.
I'm not sure how this happened, but I've filed a problem report on it, and we can see if it happens to anyone else.

Re: Named samples in library changing to a diferent sample
Hi Greg.
The only thing I can think of is sometimes I've added more samples onto a track and then deleted or cut the first one (or more) I placed on the track.
That then leaves the track name different to the samples used. So I will rename the track to the sample in use which may be a different instrument.
I have no idea if that could cause a problem or not.
As I said, I believe most problems are user error so it is probably something I have done. I seem to be quite good at breaking programs.
I'm just thankful there is a working solution.

Re: Named samples in library changing to a diferent sample
Hi,
That shouldn't cause a problem. It would more likely have something to do with library database files getting messed up in your programdata folder. But the fact that downloading them again fixes it indicates that those files are probably okay now.
If anybody gets this problem, let us know. If we can figure out how do get it to happen, we can fix it.
