Corrupt .mx5 Files

Post by FrozenPhoenix »

I recently reformatted my computer and lost quite a number of my Mixcraft songs. I was able to recover three of them, but when I try to open them, it gives me the error:

"The software has failed to load the project.

It may be corrupt."

My question is, is there anyway to restore these files or are they lost forever?

Generally the file is probably unrecoverable, you can send in a support request and see if Greg has any suggestions. Do so here

You need the corresponding .WAV files that went with your project. The .mx5 file is just a layout for how the wave files should be organized.

In some cases, there may be a backup project in the same folder.

Otherwise, any audio files you recorded should still be in your recording folder and you'll just have to recreate the project.

Save early, save often, and always back up your projects!
