New (death metal) song using Mixcraft and Beatcraft

Post by Bloodsoaked »

This is a Death Metal song, so if you don't know or never heard of death metal you might not like it. I posted the lyrics below so you can follow along if your interested. As you can see that there are lyrics in death metal music and not just screaming....LOL

I would love to get feedback on the overall mix of this song and the song (song writing) as well. Any and all comments are welcome good or bad.

www.lightningmp3.com/live/file.php?fid=5441

Info:

4 guitar tracks 1 80% left, 1 80% right, 1 100% left , 1 100% right
1 bass track centered
1 drum machine track centered
1 main vocal track with some 2nd track fill-ins

The guitars are all done with my V-Amp Pro. 2 tracks with the Off-Axis Cabinet and 2 tracks with the Vintage 78 Cabinet. I also used the V-Amp Pro to record the bass track as well.

Here are the lyrics as well if anyone is interested:

SELF MUTILATION

Mutilate Yourself
Sensory Stimulation
Production of Endorphins
Reduce Dysphoria

Destruction of Tissue
Cutting The Skin
Pulling Out Hair
Amputation

Breaking Bones
Scratching
Damage Genitals
Gouging Eyes

Self Mutilation
Revel In Bloodshed
Self Mutilation
Suffocate The Hate
Self Mutilation
Love The Pain
Self Mutilation
Depression Arise

Obsessive Compulsive
Parasuicidal Behavior
Self Medication
Relief is Temporary

Lack Self Control
Addictive Like Nature
Sense of Power
I Can't Stop

Self Mutilation
Revel In Bloodshed
Self Mutilation
Suffocate The Hate
Self Mutilation
Love The Pain
Self Mutilation
Depression Arise

The Feast Begins
Peel Off Your Skin
Taste The Sins of Your Soul
Mental Anguish Erupts
Mutilation of Worthlessness
The Hate For Yourself So Vile

Self Mutilation
Revel In Bloodshed
Self Mutilation
Suffocate The Hate
Self Mutilation
Love The Pain
Self Mutilation
Depression Arise

Dark Secret
Shame and Guilt
Feel Inadequate
Revel The Pain

Wounds Infected
Permanent Scarring
Blood Flows
Followed By Tears

Razors,Knives
Scissors, Needles
Broken Glass
Whatever I Find

Feeling Alive
Dead Inside
Lost Control
I Need Help....Help.....Help.....Help.....Help.......Help

Not a bad production.
I would say to use more than one cymbal when you do the consecutive hits. It will sound more like a drummer that way.

Your rolls are getting better within beatcraft too :-)

I like the end with the delay on the vocal.

Thanks for taking the time to listen and comment. Yeah, I have been doing a "little" better with the rolls and the drum programing in general, but still have lots to learn.

I know you have to have a taste for this style of music and it is not everyones cup of tea but I hope people will hear what kind of production you can get with Mixcraft and Beatcraft. I do have a decent soundcard (M-Audio Audiophile 2496) a small Behringer Eurorack UB802 Mixer, 2 Behringer XM8500 Microphones and the Behringer V-Amp Pro for recording guitars but this is all in all pretty cheap and still you can end up with a very good recording. I just wish more and more people used Mixcraft and Beatcraft so the coummnity was bigger and more people sharing ideas, tricks and tips!!!

I think the forum is small because the software is so easy to use, nobody needs help so they do not go looking for a forum :-)

When MC3 comes out, there will be many more users, so lets look forward to that.

Bloodsoaked,
that was pretty rockin! It certainly is death metal. Some neat riffs, and the a really driving rhythm. Was that your real voice, or did you use an effect to get a lower pitch? I think i was scared at one point that you were going to come through my computer and kick my butt. nice work.

For the most part that is my real voice. I used to double track my vocals to thicken them up but then I found the pitch shift option in Mixcraft and lower them a bit and it works wonders.

Thanks for listening and comenting!!!
