Hi,
I am a complete novice when it comes to recording MIDI; I have a Yamaha P-70 digital piano with MIDI output. My laptop has a Realtek high definition audio. Can I use this sound card/chip and use Pianissimo to record the sound? Or do I have to buy an external sound card? If not, I would need to purchase a MIDI to USB cable?
Also, for the sake of obtaining the best possible sound, is there any advantage to buying Mixcraft+Pianissimo over the standalone version? Keep in mind that all I want is to record, and maybe enhance the sound a little.
Help out a beginner

You would need some kind of midi interface in order to have your keyboard controll pianissimo.
The midi to usb cable sounds like a good choice, you would then open Mixcraft, and then on a virtual track (not an audio track) arm it with pianissimo and then your keyboard should control it. After you get that set up, simply hit the record button.
