Changing Octaves

This question isn't exactly about Pianissimo so much as it is about MIDI in general, but perhaps you can help.

The MIDI keyboard I'm using has only 5 octaves, but I'm wondering if the octave of the keys can be changed to play lower/higher notes on Pianissimo or Mixcraft.

Most keyboards with less than 88 keys have a control that allows you to do that. What kind of keyboard do you have?
