Only detecting 1 speaker?

Post by oblio »

Can anyone help with this? I have an old receiver but everything seems to be working okay except that hooked to my laptop it only picks up 1 speaker.
Any ideas?

Hi,

That probably means that it's a mono signal. Make sure you've got a stereo audio cable.

I'm pretty sure I do since I am using a monster cable I had previously bought for my stereo set up - I have that connected to RCA connection to the mike port (in Line) of my laptop.

The problem may be my vintage (old) receiver since I can remove the red connection and it doesn't change the recording.

I was hoping against hope I was just doing something wrong with the software.

Hi,

If the receiver has a headphone output, you could use that to connect to your computer. Actually, plug some headphones into it and see if you're getting stereo there.
