I haven't used Beatcraft yet, but I have it.
My dream would be to be able to produce beats like Moby. Does anyone know if he uses a drum machine, or are they real drums that he plays, or a combination, or what?
Maybe he uses Reason?
Anyone have any advice for me on how I can learn to produce great dance rhythm tracks... I've been using loops so far but that is a lot of searching and matching.

Re: Moby Beats
Go to YouTube and search for "making beats" or "create beats". There's plenty of advice there. There's even some Mixcraft videos that will pop up!

Moby has a massive collection of old and new drum machines and stuff. I read that at one point in time he used Cubase, but any DAW (including Mixcraft) can be used to make the exact same kinds of beats. Listening to some Moby tracks I can hear loops, drum machine sounds, and all kinds of production techniques in his beats.
Your best bet is to watch some teaching videos and experiment like crazy.

I just was watching a Moby interview that made me laugh... he said that as music equipment gets better and fancier, the more he wants to use his old crappy equipment. i guess while he is up late with insomnia he buys drum machines off ebay to add to his collection hehe

Moby uses old school drum machines a lot.
