Mixcraft & Audiophile 2496 Set-Up Question
I admit it. IÆm not a computer software expert. I just want to record and play back my music on my desktop PC and I am very new to this stuff. I have just purchased Mixcraft 3, a Berhinger 1202FX mixer, a good condenser microphone, and I have installed an Audiophile 2496 soundcard. I "believe" everything is connected correctly. My problem is what should I set the soundcard software settings to so I can record and to play back? I just donÆt understand the software verbiage. Does anyone have one of these cards so I can at least start with the "basic" settings? Any settings I should perform in Mixcraft so it recognizes and uses the soundcard optimally would help to. Thanks in advance.

I'm beginning to think that I am a bigger hardware nit-wit than I thought. I tried to do a test recording but I'm not hearing anything in playback although it appears to have a track recorded. Maybe I need to explain how I have things hooked up and maybe you can grade my effort.
1. Microphone is connected to the mic input 1 on my Berhinger UB1202FX mixer.
2. The cd/tape out on the mixer is connected to the "line in" on the Audiophile 2496 soundcard.
3. The cd/tape in on the mixer is connected to the "line out" on the Audiophile 2496 soundcard.
4. Headphones are connected to the mixer phone jack.
I can hear myself through the headphones when I speak into the mic.
What really baffles me is what to set the M-Audio delta Controls to because I don't understand any of the settings names.
I plead for your patience and your guidance...its frustrating me.

i'll throw 2 cents in & i'm new to all of this 2, but if ya have windows vista - your problem may start there- you can go down the posts to " new board i created" and maybe get some ideas there. a major problem i am facing is i can't record or do anything in rec. prefs. record from wave - i can only record in asio mode (in which case i downloaded asio4all). i know next to nothing and am having great issues w/ new comp. just trying to help - and feel free to join that board & post anything you find for a fix.
My operating system is Windows XP Home Edition SP2. The M-Audio 2496 Delta Control Panel is confusing to me since I'm don't really understand what the setting means or what they can do. I've tried various combinations to no avail. I know the card is operating I just don't know how to work it. I wish there was a "walk-through" for the set-up I have which is basically what I guess I am after here.
not sure if this helps - i was getting down to doing some serious takes.. la ti da.. bottom line was, the kid was on the comp playing her game & after almost taking an axe to this thing - i realized she had the phonez ( 15 perfect takes later) turned down to zero - so i had no patience & did that bastard rat song instead- it's a bitch to be a perfectionist w/ no patience.....but it may be the simple thing overlooked like greg said...
