1st project using Beatcraft

Post by Jimmikatt »

Nice program, easy to use, and with the amount of extra drum and cymbal samples out there on the net, this is a very useful tool for creating new ideas.

Sorry...updated with new link, as it's my 1st time using soundcloud,
and didn't know if you updated a song, the original link would be dead.
so i provided a link to my page, this will stay the same even if i update.

any thoughts on the drums would be nice, maybe some tips to help me get better.

HI, this is my first post on the forums as I am a new acoustica user. I listened to a couple sections of each song and thought that they were pretty recordings. I would however say that the drums seem slightly robotic. I have been messing around with adding up to 32nd notes so i can use ghost notes on snare drums and definitely change velocity or volume to make things sound more humanized. I think there is a "humanize" function within the program but I havenet tried it yet. hope this helps,
I dont know anything about recording!

I agree that it sounds robotic to a point,
but i use this mainly to help get my ideas across to the band.
just trying to put down something kind of close to what i hear in my head as i'm writing.
i have been reading tips, and tricks you can do to improve the human side,
but haven't explored everything on the program.
for now i use a 8/4 count to be able to get what i need,
i can see you can add just about anything you need to create any type of timing change.

Is there a way to select a group of patterns on the track,
and copy them over further down the track.?...
say if you have something your using for a chorus, and just want to repeat it every time.
instead of adding it pattern by pattern, copy the whole chorus part.

Problem solved for copying whole sections to be used in another section of the song.
hold down Ctrl while clicking on the patterns you want to copy, then find the starting space you want the new pattern to begin, right click and select paste.
This is a good way to repeat sections, verse / chorus of a song without having to move 1 pattern at a time. it has saved me so much time.
