SATA DVD Burners not supported?

I'm not sure if its the SATA interface or the Samsung 18x drive itself, but it is not supported in CDB. Once again, the only option is "I-CRAPPY" burning, which just about lives up to its nickname. If I use my Plextor 12x as a USB drive, I can successfully make an audio burn (but not mp3).

Is there any news on the long overdue Vista-compliant burning engine?

The SATA drive can be seen in non-MAPI with the latest beta, but still doesn't work well at all in Vista. Sure does in XP though when I finally got tired of Vista and dual-booted.
