performance panel ?
First off I absolutely love mixcraft 7 I've been a user since V.5 the performance panel is a great update
to the program. Regarding the performance panel I have a few questions or suggestions for future
updates. The first two suggestions might be impossible but I'll ask anyway.
1. Will it ever be possible to play a chord on a keyboard and trigger a single or multi clips with one
chord then trigger more clips with another chord?
2. Trigger clips with velocity levels?
3. Have a clip follow on feature like live has very handy for drum fills?
Also it would very handy to have the option to colour code the individual loops on a track not just the
track itself.
PS Thanks you for a fantastic DAW.

Re: performance panel ?
Hi,
Let me see if I can answer your questions:
1. You can use the MIDI map feature to map your keyboard on the performance panel. We don't have anything that's chord-based. Thanks for the suggestion!
2. Not sure how that would work, since you're just triggering audio clips.
3. What would a "follow on" feature do, exactly? Be sure to right-click on a grid square in Mixcraft's performance panel to see the various trigger modes that are available. Help manual entry on Performance Panel.
4. Thanks for the suggestion!
Greg

Re: performance panel ?
Hi Greg
Thanks for the response but let me clarify the questions.
1. Say I have groove going in set 1 of the performance panel and that groove
is in C major. I would now like to midi learn set 1 to C.E.G on my keyboard.
Then go on to other sets with more key changes and midi learn my keyboard accordingly.
Think of all the combinations with even a two octave keyboard. Musicians would feel
they were playing not just pressing buttons. I think this would be a real game changer.
Is this something that's possible in a future release?
2. Trigger clips with velocity levels? Press lightly on the keys to get set 1 going then
harder on the same keys to get another set going.
3. What I mean by have a clip follow on feature is. If you don't want a clip or set to loop
(only play once) you can tell that clip or set what clip or set to play next without the need for
manual selection.
I would like to say I am very grateful for all the features in mixcraft 7. Since the introduction
of the performance panel and auido warp it's the only DAW I need and still so easy to use.
PS If you could implement number 1 in a future release you could forget about number 2 and 3,
Thanks again.

Hi,
Actually, in regard to the velocity suggestion, you might be able to do something right now with Omni Sampler. You could have multiple instances of Omni Sampler, each triggered by a different velocity range. In this example, I just did two:
Not quite what you were looking for, but it's an option.

One could get all kinds of weird stuff going on if you overlapped them I reckon.

Re: performance panel ?
Yup, and you could have a group of virtual instruments playing at different velocities, with one or more virtual instruments also playing at all velocities. The possibilities go on and on.

Re: performance panel ?
It might even compete with the noise in my head.
Now that would be something.........

Re: performance panel ?
Sorry to keep on about it. But would this multi key clip or set selection be possible?
Ableton Live who have been doing clip thing for years and don't give this option.
Am I the only one to see the potential here? Thanks again.

Hi,
We do see the potential in being able to trigger clips with chords. Thank you again for the suggestion!

Re: performance panel ?
So, in this case, you have a drum fill clip. Let's say that this explains the behavior:redrocket wrote:

Code: Select all
On clip start
Stop(previous clip)
Play (clip.this)
On end clip.this
Stop(clip.this)
Play(previous clip)
