Yes - Audacity is what I've using. It's more time consuming of course, you must line up the audio files to create crossovers, then render the several files into one. It is quite versatile though.
With some genres I actually prefer to let Windows Media Player shuffle the playlist. I found after a while crossovers/segues weren't so essential.
