MIDI window question

Post by the pannacotta army »

Hi,
Is there a way to toggle between a maximized MIDI window and the tracks view other than just minimizing/maximizing the MIDI window?

Now that you bring it up, there really should be a shortcut for that.

This may be a workaround you may find a better option than minimising etc. I just tried it and it works fine.
1. UNDOCK the piano roll and resize to suit, if you like you can fill the screen.
2. Click the DOCK tab and it will minimise leaving the track view.
3. Click the "UNDOCK tab and it will open again in the full screen view.
So your "toggle" is actually the dock and undock tab!
EDIT: If you activate a different track then that should show in the piano roll for editing the next time you undock so I presume selecting a different track is the purpose of your request?

Another alternative I sometimes use:

In the tracks view, move the instrument track you are working on to the top.
Open the piano roll view in docked mode and drag the top edge up to where you can only see the top track, transport bar and piano roll.
(Note: you can drag the top of the velocity view up a bit if needed too.)

Thanks Mick, the only problem I have with this is my preference is to work in track view with the "Details Area" i.e. the dock hidden.

Thanks but not quite the elegant solution I was hoping for I'm afraid.

I'd like to double click a MIDI clip and have it open up the maximized dock. Then just hit the X to close the dock rather than minimize it.
This was the nice simple practical way Sonar used to work until they f***ed it up with docking

I think you have a good suggestion there, a nice simple shortcut would be a nice touch.
Unless there is one already..... :D

Perhaps it could be configured so a double click opened the piano roll to the most recent size/configuration and a simple key stroke to close.
I like the idea.
