Latency using exclusive mode

Post by dougc »

Need help with this matter. Purchased 7 Pro and love it so far but when I try
and use exclusive mode and check the box and set my latency and exit
I get a message saying Mixcraft could not open my sound device. I still have Mixcraft 5
as well and it works fine on it. I can run 8 milliseconds with no problem. I am using
an E-MU 0202 through a USB and running my guitar through a Digitech 1101 processor.
Any ideas?

If you can use ASIO, you're probably better off. For instance, my interface supports 24-bit recording, but only with ASIO.

Otherwise, i'd first check if your recording and playback devices still allow exclusive mode:

Make sure that these devices are the same that Mixcraft uses:

We the undersigned being of sound mind hereby do declare:
'We henceforth pledge ourselves unto the power of the Upper Air'
Doesn't that sound simply super
Zeppelin visions of the future
Of course we all know very well it wouldn't work but what the hell

Hi,

Yes, ASIO would be the way to go. Make sure you've got the latest update for your E-MU 0202 drivers.

Hi
Best advice is get rid of that EMU device. They are behind the times and no end of trouble.
I had an EMU 0404 usb soundbox and always something going wrong.
For me they left with beta Drivers and then stopped backing It up.,Old Emu's were In with the Pentium 4 days!!
or was It Zx Spectrum  My memory is fading!!!!

If you updated and went for a Focusrite Scarlett 6i6 you will never look back.It has It's own solid drivers and they are ASIO which Is the best form of drivers. Also It is a strong build as well, alloy metal casing
5ms for me keyboards and flawless operation and the company Is always willing to help you.
You have Mic Inputs/Guitar Input. MEGA BOX and not too expensive.
Cheaper than smoking!!!!

This Is only my opinion and my half penny worth of Info.

All the best
John :)

Hi,

Also make sure you've got version 7.5 build 292 of Mixcraft. (Choose "Check for Updates" from the Help menu).

There were some fixes to WaveRT in the last couple of builds.

Appreciate the input from everybody and probably will
get the scarlett 616 looks pretty sweet. I can only figure
that 7 does not support my E-MU 0202 for exclusive mode.
I checked all settings and they are set exactly the same
in Mixcraft 5 and 7. 5 works fine and 7 doesent.
No biggie I guess as the 616 is only bout $130 and I
will be upgrading so a no brainer!
Thanks

Where are you seeing the 6i6 for $130? I'm looking at that or the NI KA6, but $130 would seal the deal.

Hi Doug

There are smaller Focusrite boxes, but assure that they are 100% top notch.
I would go for the 6i6 because you a few more options and for £150 cheap as chips or $, hashbrowns!!!
This is from my experience and only an opinion
Always buy new if you can as my motto is "You get what you pay for".

Focusrite is probably the most popular I/O out there. I would agree with John about buying new, especially with electronics, if there's a problem it can be taken care of immediately. In terms of which one, if you don't need that many ins and/or outs, you don't need to spend that much. I'm upgrading to a 6 I/O soon, haven't decided between the 6i6 or NI KA6 but will soon. I want to be able to record a few things simultaneously so I need more. Up until recently I could have just used a simple unit.

Long story longer....... Get what you think you will need and think ahead a bit to see if you think you'll need more.
